As part of the City of Bend Welcoming Week, The Tower Theatre, Partners In Care, Council On Aging and Bend Film, Welcomes Unpaid Family Caregivers to a Movie Night. Unpaid caregivers are typically family members who provide care for those who cannot care for themselves. Caregivers are vulnerable to burnout and isolation, which has negative consequences for the caregiver and the one being cared for. For our immigrant and refugee neighbors who experience additional barriers, such as language, literacy, or navigation of resources, the risks are higher. Caregiver Cafe: Caring for Veterans

Join us Wednesday, November 1 from 10 - 11 am for our monthly Caregiver Cafe! This month, as we celebrate National Family Caregiver Month and honor veterans for Veterans Day, we offer a slightly different Caregiver Cafe. Sit down with other veterans and caregivers to have an open discussion with Amber Lynch, VA Caregiver Support Coordinator, to learn about support and options available for caregivers. Did you know that the VA has a program specifically to support caregivers? The VA Caregiver Support Program (CSP) offers services to caregivers of eligible and covered Veterans enrolled in the VA health care system. The program’s mission is to promote the health and well-being of family caregivers who care for our Nation’s Veterans, through education, resources, support, and services. There are two different programs, which Amber will go through during this session, and different support available depending on eligibility of the veteran. Join us to learn more! Any caregiver of a veteran is welcome to attend, even if they do not know if they are eligible for either program.

Holiday Grief: Moving Through to the Other Side

Join Partners In Care and Sarah Peterson, the President and Founder of Clear Mourning in this special holiday grief support group and community education event on November 17 from 12 - 1 pm. Clear Mourning helps shift the culture surrounding grief and to hold space for those who have experienced a tragic loss. Every person should have the opportunity and freedom to grieve their loss. During this discussion you will learn: How to prepare for holiday grief Tips to find joy and soften despair How to honor your loved ones during holiday celebrations This is an in person event hosted in the Wyatt Room at Partners In Care; presented at no cost. Community Education: Do I have dementia? How to discuss concerns with your doctor

Join Partners In Care at the Redmond Senior Center to learn about signs and symptoms of dementia and take a self-assessment to share with your doctor. Gain an understanding of: Different types of dementia Early signs and symptoms How self-assessments like 'SAGE' work How to talk to your doctor and resources available in the community Hear from Joelle Blanchard from the Partners In Care team. Joelle is a candidate for a master’s in social work from Portland State University. She has worked in hospice for seven years after experiencing a personal loss. Caregiver Cafe

Join Partners In Care on the last Wednesday of every month for a virtual, evening Caregiver Café! Caring for someone who has a serious illness or disability can be a rewarding experience, but it may also feel overwhelming. Caregiver Café is a safe place for folks who are caring for other adults. The work of providing care for someone unable to care for themselves is unending, and caregivers need help. Join us to connect, gain support, and learn new skills- and maybe laugh along the way! SURVIVING THE HOLIDAY SEASON: A One-Day Workshop

Holidays can be especially challenging while we are grieving. The holidays are typically a time of celebration for most people, but this can be a very difficult time for grieving people. Please join us for this one-day workshop in which we will offer suggestions for managing the demands of the season for those individuals who are grieving the loss of a loved one or wanting to know how to support the bereaved.
