Caregiving for Coco: Celebrating and Supporting Unpaid Family Caregivers Host(s): Partners In Care, Council on Aging, Tower Theatre, Date and Time: September 13, 4:30 p.m. for Caregiver Happy Hour; Coco starts at 6:00 p.m. Location: Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall Street, Bend, OR 97703 Tower Theater will be screening the film Coco in Spanish with English subtitles with a pre-show happy hour for Unpaid caregivers can join early for an opportunity to mingle with other caregivers, and to have one-on-one time with service providers from the Council on Aging, Partners In Care, Volunteers in Medicine, Alzheimer’s Association, and more. As part of the City of Bend Welcoming Week, The Tower Theatre, Partners In Care, Council On Aging and Bend Film, Welcomes Unpaid Family Caregivers to a Movie Night. Unpaid caregivers are typically family members who provide care for those who cannot care for themselves. Caregivers are vulnerable to burnout and isolation, which has negative consequences for the caregiver and the one being cared for. For our immigrant and refugee neighbors who experience additional barriers, such as language, literacy, or navigation of resources, the risks are higher. Holiday Grief: Moving Through to the Other Side

Clear Mourning helps shift the culture surrounding grief and to hold space for those who have experienced a tragic loss. Every person should have the opportunity and freedom to grieve their loss. Join Partners In Care at the Redmond Senior Center to learn about signs and symptoms of dementia and take a self-assessment to share with your doctor. Gain an understanding of: Different types of dementia Early signs and symptoms How self-assessments like 'SAGE' work How to talk to your doctor and resources available in the community Hear from Joelle Blanchard from the Partners In Care team. Joelle is a candidate for a master’s in social work from Portland State University. She has worked in hospice for seven years after experiencing a personal loss. SURVIVING THE HOLIDAY SEASON: A One-Day Workshop

Holidays can be especially challenging while we are grieving. The holidays are typically a time of celebration for most people, but this can be a very difficult time for grieving people. Please join us for this one-day workshop in which we will offer suggestions for managing the demands of the season for those individuals who are grieving the loss of a loved one or wanting to know how to support the bereaved. This book club is free and open to anyone in the community and will be held the second Wednesday of each month from 10 - 11 am at Paulina Springs Book Store in Sisters, Oregon. Our first gathering will be on March 12! Partners In Care will provide books to everyone attending. The first book will be The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margo by Marianne Cronin. A Year to Live

Everyday Conscious Living and Dying Though the various aspects of contemplating our life we learn to live more mindfully each day, each moment, each hour, acknowledging that our mortality is our greatest teacher. Join Carla Purusa and Lisa Hurley from Partners In Care and a small group of people in a year-long study group that supports our individual contemplation and practice while contributing to the collective evolution of our loss, grief and death culture. Together, in the spirit of community, we will gather to explore the messaging in Stephen Levine's book "A Year to Live" through a series of monthly sessions for a whole year.  Registration is required! Caregiver Cafe

  Join Partners In Care on the second Tuesday of each month from 11 am - 12 pm for a Caregiver Café! Caring for someone who has a serious illness or disability can be a rewarding experience, but it may also feel overwhelming. Caregiver Café is a safe place for folks who are caring for other adults. Come together with other caregivers in Central Oregon to share ideas, navigate challenges, and simply meet others in a similar situation, all in a safe, supportive environment at Partners In Care. The work of providing care for someone unable to care for themselves is unending, and caregivers need help. Join us to connect, gain support, and learn new skills- and maybe laugh along the way! Guest speakers will be invited from time to time. Caregiver Cafe will be held in the Wyatt Room at Partners In Care. Parking is available at 2611 NE Courtney Drive in Bend.
